Steamer Trading Cookshop is a family owned kitchenware shop you can find in 41 locations across the UK but I know them from their shop in Chester. My parents bought me my beloved Yaxell chef knife from there a few Christmases ago and whenever I get the chance, I like to take a trip to Chester to go for a browse in their Aladdin’s cave of a cookshop!
When they got in touch and asked me if I would like to get involved in a Mother’s Day campaign they are working on, I was only too happy to get involved. They sent me a wonderful package of goodies to review and just you wait to see the prize they are offering for one of you, my lovely readers to receive in my first giveaway of 2017!
Steamer really does have all the kit you could possibly want to make the perfect Afternoon Tea at home for your mum this Mother’s Day. Would you look at how beautiful that tiered cake stand is? It’s made by Masterclass, a brand within KitchenCraft which regular readers will know I love. Hungry Hubby pointed out how with my little Gooey Chocolate Nutella Raspberry Cakes on, it looks just like the glass dome which encased the rose in Beauty and the Beast! Fitting as the movie is just about to be released too (which I’m just a little bit excited about but I digress…)! The Masterclass Mini Bake Pan is perfect for making these gooey cakes in (or miniature friands) – I really trust their pans as they are really heavy duty and the nonstick coating is excellent.
What afternoon tea would be complete without a pot of tea – with this dinky little teapot that serves 3-4 cups at a time. If you are planning a big family celebration this Mother’s Day then why not try one of their Dexam Heart Shaped Cake Pans? It’s equivalent to a 9 inch diameter cake mix and would be perfect to make one of my vanilla yogurt cakes or even my ginger mojito cakes in and get the party started early ;)! Dexam is a great brand which I’ve realised recently that I already own a lot of and this cake tin is super quality. Watch this space for a recipe for it π Once you’ve made your cake of course, you will need some beautiful serveware to go with it and this Sophie Conran Rivelin Cake Slice is just stunning. It is really weighty in the way quality pieces of cutlery are and it would certainly be fitting for such a special day.
Now, without further ado, onto the giveaway!
One lucky reader will win both the Sophie Conran Cake Slice and the Masterclass Two Tier Slate Cake Stand! All you have to do is fill out this Rafflecopter and tell me what cake your mum would love to be served this Mother’s Day. You can fill out the other entries everyday until the competition closes to increase your chances to win.
The very best of luck to you all and don’t forget to come back and check if you are the lucky winner! With a little bit of luck, the prize will be with the winner in time for Mother’s Day which is Sunday 26th March this year. You’ve got to be in it, to win it!

Hello Jo,
Which knife were you gifted? I honestly don’t know much about knives, but I do know I need a good chef’s knife, preferably in a pair with a carving or bread knife.
I’ve had an inexpensive block set since I married, but the knives are getting really dull.
Hi Laurel!
Mine knife is the 25cm Yaxell Chef Knife ( http://www.steamer.co.uk/brands/yaxell/yaxell-ran-25-5cm-chefs-knife.html) – it’s razor sharp. Honestly, I’ve worked with surgical blades less sharp than this. Before I got my Yaxell, I had a Twilling Henckel Santoku which I thought was the bees knees but work hardened Damascus steel is where it’s at. It was a bit frightening to use (I called it my Samurai sword for a long time!) but I wouldn’t be without it now. I didn’t know it before but Yaxell is unique to Steamer – you may find one on Amazon but they will be more expensive and you obviously can’t try them out online!
Hope that helps Jo x
